Laurence Prorok is a French born Artist of Italian mother and Polish father, based in the South of France. Over the past 20 years, she has called various cultural hubs home, including Naples, Athens, San Francisco and Paris, where she both lived and exhibited her art.
She holds a Master of Architecture from The School of Architecture Paris La Villette and a BFA from the Academy of Art University San Francisco, CA. In addition to her own practice, Prorok has been an accomplished freelance architect and urban designer.
Laurence’s artistic work, rooted in drawing, deals with the act of image reconstructing through varied and meticulous means: freehand pen drawing, printed assemblage, collage.
She was recently awarded the Taylor Foundation Prize Paris.

Artist Statement
Laurence’s artistic work, rooted in drawing, deals with the act of image reconstructing.
Through digital assembly of collected natural world patterns (botanical forms, city structures) she builds a composite cartography of a landscape. Once the first draft of landscape printed and glued onto canvas, she starts to overlay collages of materials fabricated upstream. (She creates texturised palettes with white paste worked in relief and inks.)
Thus, through a long and meticulous process of stratification of materials, Prorok builds the link between the printed forms and the organic forms that are deposited there. She works from the particular in order to get to the global whose endpoint is not known to her but anticipated. She seeks a balance, a circulation. When the relationship between both printed and organic areas has shaped a coherent landscape, she stops with the sensation that she has finally got there.
She has shown her work at a number of Art Fairs and galleries in France and abroad. Group exhibitions include The Lyon Art Paper, The Salon d’Automne Paris, FR, Art Capital Paris, FR, The National Art Center of Tokyo, Japan, the 2025 London Art Biennale.
She was recently awarded the Taylor Foundation Jane Pêcheur drawing Prize in Paris.
Démarche artistique
Laurence Prorok est une artiste franco-italo-polonaise basée dans le Sud de la France. Au cours des vingt dernières années, elle a vécu dans divers carrefours culturels, notamment à Athènes, Naples, San Francisco et Paris.
Elle est titulaire d’un diplôme d’Architecte de l’École de Paris La Villette et d’un BA of Fine Art de l’Academy of Art University de San Francisco, California. Depuis 2004, en plus de sa propre pratique, elle est une architecte urbaniste accomplie.
Son travail artistique, ancré dans le dessin, traite de l’acte de reconstruction d’images par le moyen du collage.
Par assemblage numérique d’images d’archives (structures naturelles /urbaines), elle réalise une cartographie composite d’un paysage qu'elle imprime et maroufle sur toile libre. Il s’ensuit un travail de superposition de collage de morceaux de matière fabriquée en amont (elle crée ses palettes matiérées avec de la pâte blanche travaillée en relief et des encres qui s’y sédimentent).
Ainsi, par un long processus minutieux de stratification de matière, elle construit le lien entre les formes imprimées et les formes matiérées organiques qui s’y déposent. Un travail du particulier vers le global dont le point d’arrivée ne lui est pas connu mais anticipé. elle recherche un équilibre, une circulation. Quand la relation entre les zones imprimées et celles organiques façonne un paysage cohérent, elle s’arrête avec la sensation d’être enfin arrivée.
Elle a exposé mon travail dans de nombreux salons en France et à l'étranger : 2025 London Art Biennale, Lyon Art Paper, Salon d’Automne, Salon des Beaux Arts. Elle a reçu le Prix Jane Pêcheur de la Fondation Taylor en 2025.
